Russia appreciates Mexico’s balanced approach to international issues — Putin
The President noted that relations between Russia and Mexico are over 130 years old and are based on the traditions of reciprocal respect and mutually beneficial cooperation
MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Moscow values Mexico’s balanced approach to international issues and is interested in continuing to boost trade and other ties between the two countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.
"We appreciate Mexico’s balanced approach to settling global issues using the principles of multilateralization, non-interference, observing the norms of international law and peaceful resolution of arguments," Putin said during a ceremony where 17 ambassadors formally presented their diplomatic credentials to the Russian president.
He noted that relations between Russia and Mexico are over 130 years old and are based on the traditions of reciprocal respect and mutually beneficial cooperation. According to the Russian president, the trade turnover of the two countries reached $4 bln last year and this is a good indicator. "We are interested in continuing to boost trade, in implementing joint projects in energy, pharmaceuticals and agriculture. And, of course, we are open to expanding scientific, cultural and tourist exchanges," the Russian leader stressed.
The Russian head of state pointed out that Mexican Ambassador Eduardo Villegas Megias, who participated in the ceremony, turned 45 today. "I sincerely congratulate him and wish him good health, prosperity and success," Putin said.
