MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. Russia is interested in developing constructive cooperation with the Kingdom of Cambodia in various spheres, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.
"We are interested in further developing constructive cooperation with Cambodia, including in the defense and security, as well as in trade, tourism, and IT technologies. Our bilateral political contacts are also dynamic. Last year, the Russian Foreign Minister and the Security Council Secretary visited the kingdom," Putin told a ceremony of accepting credentials from 17 new foreign ambassadors.
According to him, Cambodian representatives regularly take part in forums on the topical issues of the international and regional agenda organized by Russia. "Over 8,000 Cambodians have received higher education in Russia, and currently Cambodian students studying in the Russian universities believe that <…> such education is in demand in your country, Mr. Ambassador," the president pointed out.
Putin also said that cooperation with Brunei Darussalam was at a good level. He called this country Moscow’s important partner in the Asia-Pacific region.
"A lot is being done for the successful implementation of joint projects in IT technologies, digitalization of the urban environment, public administration and personnel training. It is important to point out that the contacts on the line of Muslim organizations and educational institutions also continue," he added.
Putin also stressed that in international affairs, Russia was pursuing the closest cooperation with its Bruneian partners within the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
