International relations to rely on sovereign equality of countries — concept

MOSCOW, March 31. /TASS/. The system of international relations should be based on sovereign equality and non-interference in countries’ affairs, according to the new Foreign Policy Concept approved on Friday by the decree of President Vladimir Putin.

Russia seeks after establishing such system of international relations that "would provide reliable security, preservation of cultural and civilization identity, equal development opportunities for all countries irrespective of their geographic position, size of territory, demographic, resource and military potential, political, economic and social order," the Concept reads.

"For purposes of meeting the indicated criteria, the system of international relations must be multi-polar and rest on the following principles: sovereign equality of states, respect to their right to choose models of development, social, political and economic structure; cooperation based on the balance of interests and mutual benefit; and no meddling in internal affairs," the document indicates.
