MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. West blackmails and threatens countries cooperating with Russia and demands that they vote in support of resolutions that condemn Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday in an interview to Cuba’s Prensa Latina news agency.

"Three quarters of all countries in the world, primarily in Asia, Latin America and Africa have not joined the sanctions. They are being blackmailed and threatened all the time. They are being told that financing will stop and that they will face problems when applying for IMF and World Bank loans. There are demands that they vote in support of resolutions condemning the Russian Federation in the UN and other international organizations," he said.

According to the minister, Western powers resort to blackmail methods - unprecedented even during the Cold War period - to force other countries to make decisions that they need.

"We are aware of dirty - literally, thuggish - methods that are used to clinch these votes. We know it very well. Anything goes for blackmail," Lavrov continued.

According to the Russian foreign minister, more and more countries begin to realize that "at some point, playing the West’s games may become dangerous for themselves at some point."

"No one knows, whom the Americans will choose as their next threat next year or one year later, who will be subjected to an attack or isolation, whose punishment will help to gain some advantage during the US presidential elections or midterm congressional elections. The Americans contort everything to suit their self-serving, egoistic interests," he said.
