MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. The situation around the Kiev-controlled city of Avdeyevka north of Donetsk is developing rapidly, with Russian forces advancing towards it from several directions simultaneously, Acting DPR Head Denis Pushilin said Thursday.

"The Avdeyevka situation is developing rather rapidly; our boys advance from several directions. […] There are certain successes on Krasnogorovka [north of Avdeyevka] and Pervomayskoye [west of Avdeyevka] directions," he said on Russian TV.

He noted that the situation of the Ukrainian group in the city is becoming increasingly difficult.

"We’ve seen that the situation inside Avdeyevka is escalating. The enemy, according to its own statement, barred entry to the city both for civilians, reporters and volunteers," Pushilin explained.

Avdeyevka is a city with population of about 30,000 people. During the conflict in Donbass, the city, occupied by Ukrainian forces, was turned into one of the main fortification areas. Ukrainian forces fire at Donetsk, Makeyevka, Yasinovataya and surrounding area from there.
