Putin, Russian Security Council members discuss ties with immediate neighbors, EAEU allies

MOSCOW, March 10. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin held an operational meeting with members of the country’s Security Council on Friday, discussing Russia’s relations with its immediate neighbors and partners in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

"Today, we will talk about the development of relations in an area that is among the most important for us, that is, about the development of relations with our immediate neighbors and EAEU allies. There are many aspects [of these relationships] that require our constant attention, but there are also some separate issues that we have agreed to discuss today," Putin said at the beginning of the meeting, which took place via video conference. The president then gave the floor to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to deliver a report.

Also in attendance at the meeting were Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, Federal Security Service (FSB) Director Alexander Bortnikov, Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergey Naryshkin and Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergey Ivanov.
