Lavrov, Brazilian FM reaffirm countries' intention to strengthen relations — statement

Sergey Lavrov and Mauro Vieira met on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting

MOSCOW, March 1. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Brazilian counterpart Mauro Vieira on Wednesday at a meeting in New Delhi confirmed the two countries' focus on strengthening relations. The sides also discussed the schedule of bilateral contacts.

Lavrov and Vieira met on the sidelines of the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting.

"During the conversation, which took place in a constructive atmosphere, the mutual focus on further strengthening of the entire complex of Russian-Brazilian relations of strategic partnership was reaffirmed, and the schedule of bilateral contacts at various levels was discussed in detail," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that the sides also exchanged views on topical issues of the international agenda, as well as on cooperation between Russia and Brazil in the UN and the Security Council, BRICS, G20 and other multilateral platforms.

Lavrov arrived in the Indian capital on Tuesday evening to attend the March 1-2 G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
