Kremlin calls new EU sanctions list 'absurd'
On February 25, the EU introduced the 10th package of sanctions against Russia
MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called the European Union’s new sanctions list absurd.
The sanctions list includes Chairman of Russia’s Presidential Human Rights Council Valery Fadeev, surgeon Leonid Roshal, Head of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation Yevgeny Primakov, Russia’s Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova and 83 others, including prosecutors from the DPR and LPR and the Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions, as well as members of the Wagner private military company.
"Of course, all this is absurd, and one can see that they are just putting random people on the sanctions [list], people who are completely unrelated to some kind of sanctions subjects, just to make some new lists," he said talking to reporters on Monday.
He noted that "we are talking about such accomplished people for whom such inclusion on the lists will not cause any discomfort."
"I'm sure of it," Peskov concluded.
On February 25, the European Union introduced the 10th package of sanctions against Russia; the restrictions affected 87 individuals and 34 legal entities.
