Russia to bet on self for country’s development, no one else — Lavrov
The Russian foreign minister stressed that this was completely different from the West’s selfish policy
MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Moscow will no longer rely on anyone to create external conditions for the country’s development, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday.
"Until quite recently, just a couple of years ago, the external conditions necessary for our development were not determined by us but by the Western minority. It was the so-called Golden Billion that promoted all of its foreign policy initiatives for the sole purpose of making the world abide by the rules that allow the Golden Billion to continue pursuing its colonial policy and living at the expense of others. That is why we will no longer rely on anyone when it comes to creating the necessary external conditions for our development," he noted at a meeting with heads of the Foreign Ministry’s branches in Russian regions.
The top diplomat stressed that this was completely different from the West’s selfish policy. "We seek to create the best possible external conditions for the development of our country that will also reflect the consensus of all independent countries and be fully in line with the principles of the UN Charter, which our Western colleagues have repeatedly violated," Lavrov pointed out.
