Chinese top diplomat, Russian security chief stress need to defend peace in Asia-Pacific

BEIJING, February 22. /TASS/. Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Wang Yi and Russian Security Council chief Nikolay Patrushev, who met in Moscow on Tuesday, underscored the importance of firmly protecting peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region, the Chinese foreign ministry said on Wednesday.

"The sides believe that it is necessary to firmly defend peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific Region, to resist the Cold War mentality, bloc confrontation and ideological conflict," the ministry said in a statement.

The sides also agreed to continue enhancing multilateral cooperation and to pay more efforts to improve global governance.
