Putin urges businessmen under sanctions to put their stake in Russia
"Launch new projects, earn money, invest in Russia, invest in plants and jobs, help schools and universities, science and healthcare, culture and sport. This is the way you will grow your capital and earn recognition and gratitude from people for generations to come, while the government and society will definitely support you," the president said
MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. It doesn’t make sense for businessmen hit by Western sanctions to beg for their frozen assets, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in his State of the Nation Address to the Federal Assembly on Tuesday.
"I want to be heard by those facing ‘the way of wolves of the West.’ There is no sense in attempts to run hat in hand and grovel, begging for money. And most importantly, it’s useless, especially now, when you understand pretty well with whom you are dealing. It is not worth clinging to the past, attempting to win by court settlement, to beg for something. You have to rebuild your life and your work. Especially since you are strong men," the President said.
The Russian leader urged them to invest in Russia. "I know many [Russian businessmen] personally and for many years. They are strong people, schooled by adversity. Launch new projects, earn money, invest in Russia, invest in plants and jobs, help schools and universities, science and healthcare, culture and sport. This is the way you will grow your capital and earn recognition and gratitude from people for generations to come, while the government and society will definitely support you," Putin added.
