CHELYABINSK, February 16. /TASS/. The Western countries have never had the slightest intention of fulfilling partnership agreements with Moscow, their only dream being about Russia’s collapse, Nikolay Patrushev, the Secretary of Russia’s Security Council, said at a meeting in Chelyabinsk dedicated to national security issues on Thursday.

He drew attention to the fact that over the years the leaders of Western states had made many verbal promises or signed various documents on the development of partnership with Russia.

"However, as recent statements by some Western officials have shown, they were deliberately deceiving us, pursuing only their own selfish goals. They did not and do not intend to act on the agreements reached. All along they have dreamed of Russia’s collapse," Patrushev said.

He recalled that the Western countries had been speculating a great deal about the non-expansion of NATO to the East, but in fact they brought the military infrastructure close to the Russian borders.

"They signed the Minsk agreements, which they did not plan to implement. And starting from 2014 they were preparing Ukraine for a war with Russia, turning it into an anti-Russian militarized state, completely subordinate to the interests of NATO," Patrushev said.
