Iraqi top diplomat highlights important timing of Lavrov’s visit to Baghdad
Fuad Hussein also pointed to the truly historic relations between Iraq and Russia
BAGHDAD, February 6. /TASS/. Russia’s delegation is visiting Iraq at an important time both for Moscow and Baghdad, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein said at a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
"The visit is taking place at a very sensitive time for the situation in the world and the region, and particularly sensitive for the two counties," he pointed out. "We are facing various challenges in the region, as well as in the international dimension," the Iraqi top diplomat added.
Hussein also pointed to the truly historic relations between Iraq and Russia.
Lavrov arrived in the Iraqi capital on a working visit on Sunday. Baghdad is the first stop of the Russian foreign minister’s tour, which also includes Mali, Mauritania and Sudan.
