Russia, US have no special platforms for dialogue on Ukraine, says senior diplomat

MOSCOW, February 6. /TASS/. Russia and the United States are not currently holding special meetings on the topic of the special military operation or Ukraine, there is no special dialogue on these topics, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters.

He also slammed reports about the alleged visit of US CIA chief William Burns to Moscow in January to discuss the situation around Ukraine as fake.

"We currently have no dialogue with the Americans on the subject of the special military operation, Ukraine, on any lines, except for communication between representatives of the Foreign Ministry and the State Department with the US embassy in Moscow and the Russian embassy in Washington. Occasional phone calls at other levels take place, but no meetings, special formats for this kind of consultations are not held," he said.

Earlier, the Swiss newspaper Neue Zurcher Zeitung quoted its sources as saying that US President Joe Biden instructed the CIA chief to assess whether Russia and Ukraine were ready for peace talks. Burns allegedly offered Kiev "peace in exchange for land" and Moscow "land in exchange for peace".
