UNSC meeting on Ukraine next Wednesday to discuss peace prospects — Russia’s UN mission
There is also a meeting on humanitarian aspects of the Ukrainian crisis planned on February 6
UNITED NATIONS, February 2. /TASS/. A United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting on Ukraine to be held on February 8 on Russia’s initiative will discuss peace prospects amid growing weapons supplies by the West, Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky said on Wednesday.
"February promises to be full of meetings, including on Ukraine. The West has requested a UNSC meeting on the anniversary of the special military operation on February 24," the Russian diplomat wrote on his Telegram channel. "Before that, on February 6, they would like to hold a meeting on humanitarian aspects of the Ukrainian crisis," he added.
"We’ll make it worth their while. We have requested a meeting to be held on February 8 to discuss prospects for resolving the Ukrainian crisis peacefully amid growing Western-made weapons supplies. Nor will we miss the anniversary of signing of the Minsk Agreements," Polyansky said.
According to him, a February 23 meeting on relations between the UN and the EU will not take place without Ukrainian issues.
