MOSCOW, February 1. /TASS/. Russia is ready for negotiations on the situation in Ukraine if the Kiev regime also displays genuine willingness for such talks, Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko told reporters on Wednesday.

"Our stance is clear, intelligible and transparent. We are ready for talks, not promises, without preconditions that they are trying to set forth. Talks are talks. Yet if the Kiev regime is ready for actual negotiations, we don’t see this," she said.

She added that the increased deliveries of weapons, including offensive ones, on the part of the US can hardly be seen as a call for peace. According to the top senator, the US is interested not in ending this conflict but in its escalation and prolongation. "They continue harboring illusions that they will slow down Russia’s development and are doing everything for this. They are doing their utmost to ensure Europe’s complete dependence on US energy resources, on its military-industrial complex," Matviyenko stressed.

"The so-called calls for peace are just double talk. There are no calls for peace, there is no urge for peace, they just continue their aggressive policy," she added.
