MOSCOW, January 31. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune have agreed to foster more active interaction at various levels as well as accelerate the preparation of important documents, the Kremlin press service reported following a conversation between the two leaders on Tuesday.

"It was agreed to step up contacts at various levels and preparation of important bilateral documents," its statement said.

The two presidents last spoke over the phone last April. Then, the subjects discussed also included coordination along the OPEC+ line as well as regional issues, including the situation in the zone of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The situation around Ukraine was also touched upon.

Last September, when ambassadors were presenting their diplomatic credentials, Putin noted that interaction between Moscow and Algiers was a strategic partnership. According to him, Algeria is "second by importance, and Russia’s leading trade partner in Africa in terms of trade volume." The Russian president pointed out that trade and economic cooperation between the two countries continues to actively develop as do ties in other spheres, including military-technical and humanitarian ones.
