MOSCOW, January 30. /TASS/. Russia will build its relations with unfriendly countries based on how they address Russia’s concerns, primarily in the sphere of security, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated in publicized comments on the results of Moscow’s diplomacy for 2022.

"Any attempts to do harm to Russia and its allies will be resolutely thwarted. We will continue to work with unfriendly countries based on how they take our legal concerns into account, especially in the sphere of security," the ministry said, commenting on the key areas of Russia’s diplomacy in 2023.

According to the ministry, the main area of focus of the efforts of Russia’s diplomacy will be the use of cooperation potential with the global majority, i.e. with the countries and associations of the CIS, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. "We plan to establish new mechanisms of cooperation in various spheres with the countries which have not joined the West’s anti-Russian campaign. We will expand cooperation with our partners within the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization - TASS) and BRICS (an association of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa - TASS), with other states demonstrating independence in international affairs. In the interests of enhancing stability in Eurasia, we will continue to use the EAEU’s (Eurasian Economic Union - TASS) potential, where Russia holds the presidency in 2023. The second Russia-Africa summit scheduled for 2023 should bring the partnership with our African friends up to a new level," the ministry said.

Apart from that, according to the ministry, Russia’s diplomacy in 2023 will continue to stick to the basic principles of its foreign policy activities, such as independence, multi-vector character, respect for international law, reliance on national interests, openness to mutually beneficial cooperation. "We will continue to fight for truth and justice in international affairs, against the vestiges of neocolonialism and the hegemonic ambitions of the United States and its satellites, the notorious order based on rules invented by no one knows who, which is aggressively promoted by them," it stressed.

"Understanding that the world has entered a period of revolutionary transformation, we are ready for various options of the development of the international situation. We are looking to the future with confidence and have no doubt that Russia will be able to safeguard its security and the security of its allies amid any international conditions and our foreign policy will continue to serve its key goal - to form a favorable external environment for progressive development," the ministry emphasized.
