Moscow says Western deceit spurred Russia’s drive to accelerate pivot towards East, South

It is reported that the West’s inability to negotiate and deceitfulness are being confirmed which boosts our resolve to prioritize the development of the southern and eastern vectors of foreign policy

MOSCOW, January 30. /TASS/. The West’s intractability and deceit bolster Russia’s resolve to give priority to the southern and eastern vectors of its foreign policy, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated in publicized comments on the results of Moscow’s diplomacy for 2022 on Monday.

"It has been clear to us for a while that the very existence of Russia as one of the basic systemic elements in the expansive Eurasian space is a problem for our opponents," the diplomatic agency noted. "However, history teaches again and again that any attempts to subvert Russia’s statehood, to split society, moreover, to infringe on the country’s territorial integrity only help to consolidate our people, encourage the continued course toward sovereignizing the key spheres of life. Meanwhile, the West’s inability to negotiate and deceitfulness are being confirmed which boosts our resolve to prioritize the development of the southern and eastern vectors of foreign policy," it added.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the West, trying to revive the unipolar world model under the slogan of the "rules-based order" is resorting to any means: pressure, provocations, blackmail, the intimidation of those unwelcome and the use of force. "Information warfare is among these as well, and one element here is the narrative of Russia’s territorial break-up as one of the permissible options of resolving the ‘Russian issue'," the ministry stressed.
