Kremlin says US has demonized Wagner private military company for years
Dmitry Peskov stressed that these statements, as a rule, were unsubstantiated
MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said the US has issued statements demonizing the Wagner private military company for many years but the statements are unsubstantiated.
He made the comment a day after the US designated the company as a transnational criminal organization and imposed sanctions on some related individuals and entities.
"Yesterday wasn’t the first time that you and I heard statements from Washington demonizing the private military company Wagner. It has been going on for many years. At the same time, these statements, as a rule, are unsubstantiated. You and I have never seen or read any rational reasoning," the spokesman said, when asked how valid the US accusations of the company were with respect to the entity’s activities in Africa and Ukraine.
Peskov said the same goes for the statements concerning the Wagner company’s activities in the Central African Republic.
"That also sounds fairly unsubstantiated. No proof, no evidence, nothing has been presented to the public. That significantly devalues the meaning of the statements that come out of Washington," he said.
