Kremlin still mum about timing of Putin’s major appearances
The Russian leader last addressed the Federal Assembly in April 2021
MOSCOW, January 20. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov refused to say on Friday when Russian leader Vladimir Putin will address parliament, give his major annual press conference or take part in the Direct Line question-and-answer session.
"We will announce the dates of these events in due time. I cannot give you the exact timing right now," Peskov told reporters.
Putin last addressed the Federal Assembly in April 2021. Peskov announced late last December that the annual presidential address would be put off until later.
Traditionally, Putin’s big press conference is held at the end of the year, but it was not held this past December. Hundreds of journalists are accredited for such events, which usually last several hours.
Also, the head of state has held Direct Line Q&A sessions taking Russian residents’ questions live annually since 2001, except for 2004 and 2012. In 2020, some Direct Line elements were included in his major press conference.
