'Dangerous': Kremlin on discussion of supplying arms to Kiev for strikes on Russian soil
Dmitry Peskov also emphasized that delivering weapons to Kiev for strikes on Russia will mean taking the conflict to a new level
MOSCOW, January 19. /TASS/. The discussion about delivering weapons to Ukraine for strikes on Russian soil is extremely dangerous, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.
"Naturally, the very discussion of the acceptability of supplying Ukraine with arms which would allow strikes to be delivered on Russian soil <…> is potentially extremely dangerous," the Kremlin official said.
He pointed out that Ukraine already has weapons "which it uses to constantly, daily deliver strikes on Russian soil." "I mean our new regions," Putin’s press secretary explained.
Peskov replied in the affirmative to a question as to whether a statement by Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov that Russia’s Armed Forces would not let the strikes on Russian soil, including Crimea, go unanswered, reflected Moscow’s official position. "Of course, it does," the spokesman said, stressing that "Antonov is the extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the US." "How can he not reflect [the stance of] our country and president?" he wondered.
The Kremlin official also emphasized that delivering weapons to Kiev for strikes on Russia will mean taking the conflict to a new level.
"This will mean taking the conflict to a whole new level which certainly will not bode well in terms of global European security," he stated.
