MOSCOW, January 16. /TASS/. One Syrian soldier was killed as a result of sniper fire by terrorists in Syria’s Latakia governorate, Oleg Yegorov, deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria (a division of the Russian defense ministry), said on Monday.

"As a result of sniper fire conducted by terrorists from the settlement of Kara Jales in the Latakia governorate targeting the positions of government forces near the settlement of Janajik, one Syrian soldier was killed," he said.

According to Yegorov, two shelling attacks from the positions of the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist group (outlawed in Russia) were reported in the Idlib de-escalation zone during the day: one in the Idlib governorate, and one in the Latakia Hama governorate.
