OSCE authority being diluted, scattered to narrow formats — Lavrov

According to the top diplomat, through the efforts of the European Union, parallel structures and meetings, such as the European Political Community, whose first meeting was held on October 6 in Prague, are being created

MOSCOW, December 1. /TASS/. The West is diluting and scattering the purview of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) into narrow formats, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a press conference on European security issues.

"Now the OSCE is in the crosshairs [of the West]. Its powers and competences are being diluted in every possible way, scattered in narrow, non-inclusive formats," he said.

Lavrov said that for years, "the West has been trying to take over the OSCE, to subdue it as the last platform for region-wide dialogue."

According to the top diplomat, through the efforts of the European Union, parallel structures and meetings, such as the European Political Community, whose first meeting was held on October 6 in Prague, are being created. "Preparing the meeting, announcing the initiative to create a European political community, [French President Emmanuel] Macron proudly said, 'We invited everyone except Russia and Belarus,'" Lavrov recalled.

The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that the West has shown that it would build security not with Russia, but against it.
