Idea of nuclear war becomes more and more acceptable in society over time — diplomat

According to Sergey Ryabkov, Russia continues to adhere to its nuclear doctrine and the principle that a nuclear war should not be unleashed

MOSCOW, November 30. /TASS/. It is dangerous that the idea of the possibility of a nuclear war is becoming more and more acceptable in society over time, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said.

"I am concerned that the topic of nuclear war is becoming more and more acceptable among the public over time. This is one of the dangerous consequences of how new generations of people who have not witnessed wars and hardships perceive this threat in a relaxed way, like a computer game. And this is dangerous, unacceptable from our point of view," he said on Wednesday during a RT TV broadcast.

According to the diplomat, Russia continues to adhere to its nuclear doctrine and the principle that a nuclear war should not be unleashed. "Russia continues to adhere to the wording of our doctrine regarding the use of nuclear weapons, <...> the fundamental documents concerning the defense policy of our country. We are also committed to the formula derived decades ago that a nuclear war cannot be won and must not be unleashed," he concluded.
