West seeks to impose its values on Qatar — Russian envoy to Vienna

No respect to national traditions and values of Qatar as an Islamic state, Mikhail Ulyanov said

VIENNA, November 25. /TASS/. Several Western countries are trying to impose their own values on Qatar, exposing totalitarian trends in their policy, Russia's representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said on Friday.

"A number of Western countries try to impose their values on Qatar. No respect to national traditions and values of Qatar as an Islamic state. Why are they doing that? Yet another example of totalitarian trends in the policies of the West," the diplomat wrote on his Twitter page.

Qatar is hosting 2022 UEFA World Cup, which is to continue until December 18. Western media and public criticize the event’s organizers and the country’s government for violating the rights of women, migrant workers and sexual minorities.
