Rosatom chief, Grossi highlight IAEA’s prompt response to recent bombardments of ZNPP

According to Rosatom, the three chiefs discussed in detail the situation around the Zaporozhye NPP and the role the IAEA mission has been playing in ensuring safety there

MOSCOW, November 23 /TASS/. The chiefs of Russia’s State Atomic Energy Corporation and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) pointed to a prompt response by the IAEA to massive bombardments last Sunday of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant at a meeting in Istanbul on Wednesday, Rosatom told TASS.

"Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev held a regular working meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi in Istanbul on November 23. The meeting was attended by Rostekhnadzor chief [Alexander] Trembitsky," Rosatom said in a statement. According to Rosatom, the three chiefs "discussed in detail the situation around the Zaporozhye NPP and the role the IAEA mission has been playing in ensuring safety there. In this light, the IAEA’s prompt reaction to massive bombardments of the power plant that took place on November 20 was highlighted. The sides agreed to continue their cooperation."

"They had a substantive and candid conversation," Rosatom said.

The Ukrainians resumed their attacks on the ZNPP after a two-month lull, the Russian Defense Ministry reported earlier. According to the top brass, over the past weekend alone, the Kiev regime’s forces fired at least 25 shells at the power plant. One of the shells hit the roof of special building No. 2, where nuclear fuel is stored.
