Putin offers condolences to Indonesian president over deadly earthquake

MOSCOW, November 22. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended his condolences to his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo over the deadly 5.6-magnitude earthquake in the West Java province. Putin’s message to Widodo was published on the Kremlin’s website on Tuesday.
"Please accept my deepest condolences over the earthquake that caused numerous casualties and large-scale destruction in the West Java province. Please convey my words of heartfelt sympathy and support to the families and friends of the victims, and wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured," the message reads.
The death toll in the earthquake that rocked Indonesia on Monday has reached 252, Reuters reported earlier. According to the Indonesian authorities, at least 377 people suffered injuries and 31 remain missing. Damage to more than 700 buildings has been reported so far, including homes, schools and hospitals. The epicenter of the quake was 74 kilometers southeast of the country’s capital of Jakarta. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the earthquake was recorded at a depth of five kilometers.
