Putin to abstain from G20 and APEC — Kremlin
The G20 summit will take place on the Indonesian island of Bali on November 15 to 16
MOSCOW, November 11. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will not speak at the G20 summit, including online. A video address to the APEC summit participants is not planned as well, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.
"No, there are no such plans," he said in reply to a question about whether a video address or an online speech by the Russian leader is planned for the G20 summit.
Peskov explained that the decision not to go to Bali to attend the G20 was made by Putin himself. "It was the decision of the head of state. Related to his schedule. Related to the need for him to be in the Russian Federation," the spokesman explained.
The official clarified that the president's video address to the APEC summit participants is also not to be expected. "No, it is not planned," Peskov said.
The G20 summit will take place on the Indonesian island of Bali on November 15 to 16. Putin will not go to this meeting; the Russian delegation will be headed by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The APEC summit will be held in Bangkok on November 18 to 19. Russia will be represented at the summit by First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Belousov.
