West foots bill for ICC’s bogus proceedings on Ukraine — Russian mission to UN
"Now, these hypocritical guardians of justice are paying for the bogus proceedings on Ukraine without batting an eye," Gennady Kuzmin said
UNITED NATIONS, November 9. /TASSS/. Western states are paying for the bogus International Criminal Court (ICC) proceedings on Ukraine, Russian Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Gennady Kuzmin said, speaking at a UN Security Council meeting Wednesday.
"In the current situation, the ICC’s complaints about a lack of funds look especially strange, considering the colossal financial injections that the ICC received under the guise of donations from Western states, who successfully hid their war criminals from investigation not only in Libya, but also in Iraq and Afghanistan," the diplomat said. "Now, these hypocritical guardians of justice are paying for the bogus proceedings on Ukraine without batting an eye."
"It doesn’t end with tens of millions of allegedly voluntary donations," Kuzmin noted. "Literally all ICC resources are going to the Ukrainian cause right now. This situation has led to the fact that participants of the Rome Statute from developing countries are becoming more and more displeased with the court's unhealthy preoccupation with Ukraine. One can understand them. Isn’t this giving too much attention to a state that didn’t even bother to become a member of the Rome Statute, limiting itself to making scandalous statements about recognizing the ICC’s jurisdiction, which included a number of culprits, named in advance, which is tantamount to trying to protect themselves?"
"We regret that the ICC is so caught up in the Ukrainian cause that reports on the areas identified by the prosecutor as priorities are being presented to the Security Council mere days before meetings," the diplomat said.
