Diplomat slams US statements about North Korea supplying ammunition to Russia as fake
According to Maria Zakharova, the US simply came up with an excuse to impose new sanctions against North Korea
MOSCOW, November 9. /TASS/. Statements by US authorities that North Korea is allegedly supplying artillery ammunition to Russia for use in its special operation in Ukraine are a lie from beginning to end, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Wednesday.
"No intelligible justification for these allegations has been or could ever be provided, because everything said by the US representatives is a lie from beginning to end, it is another example of fake news, rumors that the West spreads about Russia," she said.
According to Zakharova, the US simply came up with an excuse to impose new sanctions against North Korea.
On Monday, Reuters reported, citing the Korean Central News Agency, that North Korea said there were no agreements on arms deliveries to Russia.
On November 2, US Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said that North Korean authorities were secretly supplying artillery ammunition to Russia for use in its special operation in Ukraine. In his turn, US State Department Spokesman Ned Price said that the US would study what additional steps it could take against North Korea in retaliation to the alleged arms supplies to Russia.
