Moscow sees little progress on implementing Russian part of grain deal, says diplomat
Andrey Rudenko noted that there was still time before the deadline of November 18, and "Russia will see how the deal will be carried out, primarily the Russian part of it"
MOSCOW, November. 8. /TASS/. So far, Moscow has not seen much progress on the Russian part of the grain deal being implemented, and all factors will be taken into account when deciding on its extension after November 18, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko said on Tuesday.
"So far, we have not witnessed much progress on the Russian part (of the grain deal - TASS), so all factors will be considered when the final decision on the extension [of the deal] will be made," he said, answering a question from TASS.
Rudenko noted that there was still time before the deadline of November 18, and "Russia will see how the deal will be carried out, primarily the Russian part of it."
On November 2, Russia decided to return to the grain deal after Ukraine, with the mediation of the UN and Turkey, issued written guarantees that it would not use the security corridor in the Black Sea for military purposes. With that said, Moscow cautioned that it reserved the right to withdraw from the agreement if Kiev violated the guarantees it had given.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on November 3 that Moscow was satisfied that Ukraine had signed such security guarantees with Ankara's assistance, but still saw no result on the second part of the deal concerning the removal of obstacles to the export of Russian fertilizers and grain.
