Russia and India discuss joint arms production — Lavrov
The minister said that he had discussed with his counterpart interaction in the nuclear energy sector and also noted cooperation between Russia and India in the space sector
MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. Russia and India have discussed prospects for military-technical cooperation, including joint production of modern weapons, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday following talks with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
"We discussed in detail the state and prospects of military-technical cooperation, including joint production of modern arms," Lavrov said.
The minister said that he had discussed with his counterpart interaction in the nuclear energy sector and also noted cooperation between Russia and India in the space sector. "We attach great importance to space exploration in such areas as satellite navigation, space science and manned programs," Lavrov said.
According to the Russian top diplomat, the sides praised the cooperation of the two countries on international platforms. "We stressed the importance of active negotiations on the conclusion of free trade zone agreements between the EAEU (the Eurasian Economic Union - TASS) and India. We have a mutual appreciation of the interaction between Russia and India on the global stage, including within the UN and other multilateral platforms, such as BRICS, the SCO, the G20," Lavrov concluded.
