Accusations of Russia, OPEC+ collusion groundless — MFA

Maria Zakharova noted that both Latin America and the countries of Africa, the Middle East and Asia, will not forget what their Western "parent states" have tried repeatedly even in recent years to do with them

MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. Accusations that Russia and OPEC+ countries are colluding are groundless, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told the Soloviev Live TV channel on Tuesday.

According to the diplomat, the OPEC+ member-states are simply acting in their own interests so as not to become another victim of the West’s "predatory approach."

"<...> Do you remember that OPEC+ countries were directly accused of being in some kind of collusion and under pressure from Russia? They are not in any collusion. They simply understand that if they do not take actions that are beneficial for their countries and regions, they will end up being another victim of the Western world’s predatory attitude towards their countries and peoples," she said.

Zakharova noted that both Latin America and the countries of Africa, the Middle East and Asia, will not forget what their Western "parent states" have tried repeatedly even in recent years to do with them. This concerns not only the elites of those countries but also their ordinary citizens, she stressed.

"It is not like this is forming some kind of a pro-Russian position [of those states], it shapes their objective approach to international relations," the diplomat said.
