Russia opposes US plans for neocolonial redivision of global economy – ambassador to US
Anatoly Antonov said that Washington is building "schemes" whip and belt "when the capitals are faced with a choice between unprofitable deals for themselves and the threat of sanctions"
WASHINGTON, November 4. /TASS/. Russia strongly opposes US attempts to carry out a neocolonial redivision of the global economy with the goal of preserving the Western dominance, Russian Ambassador to the US Anatoly Antonov said.
"Russia categorically opposes the US desire for a neocolonial redivision of the global economy, such as its attempts to standardize everything, introduce financial and technological monopoly in order to preserve Western dominance," he wrote in an article for the National Interest magazine published on Thursday.
In his words, Washington was creating "a ‘stick and whip’ system, when capitals are faced with a choice between unprofitable deals and the threat of sanctions. Whilst in fact becoming slaves in economic, political, and at times in socio-cultural terms. This is a path to nowhere."
The ambassador went on to say that "most of the world - countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East" agree that this policy was a dead-end.
"The weariness of Washington’s unilateralism is becoming increasingly apparent. As well as the lack of channels for normal, mutually beneficial cooperation. It is equal dialogue with partners that the Russian Federation is focused on," Antonov added.
