Many of Ukrainian POWs surrendered voluntarily – LPR official

The Commissioner for Human Rights in the LPR, Viktoria Serdyukova, previously reported that over 1,000 soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are in captivity in the republic

LUGANSK, November 4. /TASS/. Many Ukrainian servicemen have laid down their weapons and voluntarily surrendered to forces of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), LPR Human Rights Commissioner Viktoria Serdyukova has told TASS.

"A great number of Ukrainian servicemen who are currently on the LPR territory have voluntarily laid down their weapons and sought contact with the people’s militia and the allied forces," she said.

In her estimates, the republic has around 1,000 Ukrainian prisoners of war kept on its territory.

According to the LPR official, Ukrainian servicemen often leave injured soldiers on the battlefield. Some of them are discovered by members of the LPR People’s Militia and subsequently receive the required medical treatment.
