Zaporozhye may be primary target in Ukrainian offensive, official says
According to Vladimir Rogov, this is being evidenced by the amount of vehicles and personnel being amassed at the contact line, which he characterized as "significant, to put it mildly"
MOSCOW, October 25. /TASS/. Ukrainian armed forces may view the Zaporozhye Region as a primary target in their offensive attempts, says Vladimir Rogov, head of the "We are Together with Russia" movement.
"It is highly probable that it is the Zaporozhye Region that will become the main one [for Ukrainian forces]," he opined on Russian TV Tuesday.
According to Rogov, this is being evidenced by the amount of vehicles and personnel being amassed at the contact line, which he characterized as "significant, to put it mildly."
"It is quite possible that [Ukrainian forces plan] to distract us on the left and right flanks and to strike in the center after all. And here the primary strikes will come from Orekhovo and Gulyaypole on Energodar, Vasilyevka, Tokmak, Pologi and all the way to Berdyansk," he added.
The official underscored that this scenario is possible due to the geographical features of the region, namely its flat terrain.
"We have plains, barren steppe - no obstructions, no rivers or woods. It would be rather easy to reach any place, if there is no resistance, and there will be resistance, naturally. Our boys are waiting and getting prepared. […] Our military are well aware of the potential risks," Rogov underscored.
According to Rogov, a train with military vehicles was dispatched from the Kharkov Region towards Dnepropetrovsk, but a significant part of these vehicles went to the Zaporozhye Region instead of Kherson.
"These are the units that took part in the offensive near Balakleya in the Kharkov Region," Rogov added.
