Kiev’s detonation of dirty bomb to contaminate thousands of square meters — top brass
According to Igor Kirillov, Kiev will try to disguise its actions as Russian aggression
MOSCOW, October 24. /TASS/. Ukraine's potential detonation of a dirty bomb would lead to the radioactive contamination of an area covering several thousand square meters, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, Chief of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of the Russian Armed Forces, said on Monday.
"The detonation of a radiological explosive device would inevitably lead to radioactive contamination of the area of up to several thousand square meters," he said.
According to Kirillov, Kiev will try to disguise its actions as Russian aggression. "It is worth noting that similar warfare techniques have already been used by the West in Syria, when the White Helmets filmed propaganda videos there about the use of chemical weapons by government troops," he recalled.
"One of the most high-profile and widely publicized episodes is the April 4, 2017 provocation by the abovementioned non-governmental organization in the city of Khan Shaykhun. Note the photo of the people taking soil samples without personal protective equipment. But that doesn't seem to confuse anyone! Especially those who made the decision of using the missile strike on the territory of the sovereign Syria," the general stressed.
He recalled that the Americans used this provocation as a pretext, without waiting for an investigation or for a decision by the UN Security Council, launched a missile strike on the Shayrat Airbase, blatantly violating the norms of international law. "It is very likely that a similar scenario will be used in this case," Kirillov said.
