Senior senator says no curfew to be introduced in Moscow

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared martial law in the four new regions of Russia

MOSCOW, October 19. /TASS/. No curfew will be introduced in Moscow, Russian Federation Council Deputy Speaker Yuri Vorobyov told reporters, adding that additional restrictions in other regions will be introduced only in accordance with the presidential decree.

"There will be no curfew in Moscow," the senator said Wednesday. "If any additional restrictions or requirement are introduced, it will only happen in accordance with the presidential decree and the powers granted to anti-crisis centers led by governors," he added.

Earlier on Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared martial law in the four new regions of Russia. The Federation Council approved the presidential decree.

The head of state also introduced four readiness levels across the state: the highest readiness level has been declared in the four new regions; the medium level has been declared in regions bordering Ukraine, including the Kursk Region. Elevated readiness level has been declared in other regions of Central and Southern Federal Districts. Other regions will operate on the basic readiness level.
