MOSCOW, October 18. /TASS/. Russia welcomes the efforts of Kazakhstan's leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to modernize the country’s domestic political system, Russian envoy to Kazakhstan Alexey Borodavkin said on Tuesday in an article published in the International Affairs Journal.
"Russia, for its part, welcomes the efforts of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to modernize the country's domestic political system. We sincerely wish the head of Kazakhstan success in implementing the initiatives he put forward, including holding early presidential and parliamentary elections," the article said.
The envoy pointed out that Kazakhstan appreciated Moscow's help in resolving the unrest in the country earlier this year. "We can see that the country’s leadership appreciated this gesture: Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has repeatedly - most recently at the June 17, 2022, during a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum - publicly expressed gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin for the prompt transfer and deployment of the Organization’s (Collective Security Treaty Organization’s - TASS) peacekeeping contingent in those dramatic days," he added.
