Russian investigators to check data on 100 foreigners fighting in Ukraine
It is reported that the actions of foreigners will be legally assessed in accordance with the norms of the Russian Criminal Code
MOSCOW, October 17. /TASS/. The Russian Investigative Committee will check the information on foreigners participating in military actions on the Ukrainian side, the press service of Russia’s Investigative Committee told reporters.
According to information received from Viktor Berezhny, a scout of the Ukrainian 92nd separate mechanized brigade, who was captured by the Lugansk People’s Republic’s servicement on the Svatov front, over a hundred foreign fighters are involved in military actions in Balakleya, Semenovka, Shevchenkovo, Kupyansk and Berestovoye in the Kharkov Region. These are members of the so-called International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine, which includes officers from the US, the UK, Poland, Italy and Canada. According to the prisoner of war, the experience of foreign mercenaries contributes to the cohesive conduct of hostilities on the Ukrainian side.
"On the instructions of the head of the department, investigators will verify the specified information, the actions of foreigners will be legally assessed in accordance with the norms of the Russian Criminal Code," the statement reads.
