Russia-Donbass allied forces thwart Ukrainian army’s attempt to cross Dnieper
As Yevgeny Balitsky said, he Ukrainian army’s raid was a completely reckless action
MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/. The Russia-Donbass allied forces thwarted a Ukrainian army attempt to cross the Dnieper River and land in the Zaporozhye Region and the enemy lost about 30 troops, Zaporozhye Region acting Governor Yevgeny Balitsky said on Wednesday.
"Most of the boats were sunk at night and we counted about 30 servicemen [killed among the Ukrainian military]. The remaining militants turned back," the official said in a live broadcast on the Rossiya-24 TV Channel.
The Ukrainian army’s raid was a completely reckless action, Balitsky said.
"They moved directly into a stronghold and came under fire," he pointed out.
This was an attempt to determine fire emplacements and posts, he added.
"The other part [of the Ukrainian military] between Vasilyevka and Tokmak attempted to conduct reconnaissance by fire and there was a little gunfight there. It can’t be said that there was a large group there," the acting regional head said.
On October 11, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the We Are Together with Russia movement, told TASS that subversive and reconnaissance groups composed of foreign mercenaries did not cease attacks at the engagement line in the Zaporozhye Region and the Russia-Donbass allied forces were rebuffing the enemy.
