Putin issues decree to put Zaporozhye NPP on list of Russia’s federal assets
It is noted that the decree also sets the operator’s status of the nuclear power plant
MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a decree to put the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) facilities on the list of federal assets.
"The Russian government shall take measures to establish federal ownership of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant and other facilities necessary for its operation," reads the decree published on Wednesday.
Putin also instructed the government to establish the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant federal state unitary company to ensure security of its assets.
The decree also sets the operator’s status of the nuclear power plant. "To grant the joint-stock company the Operator of the Zaporozhye NPP the status of an organization with operations in the area of nuclear energy, which, using its own capabilities or enlisting the support of other organizations, shall engage in activities to operate or cease operation of nuclear facilities at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant," the decree said.
Permits issued to the nuclear power plant and its employees before September 30 will continue to be in effect until new ones are issued under Russian laws.
Ex-chief engineer of the Balakovo Nuclear Power Plant Oleg Romanenko would head the operating company of the Zaporozhye NPP, Rosenergoatom Company said on Wednesday.
