MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. Four new regions are now de jure part of Russia and the country has become larger which is very important, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Wednesday.

He reiterated that Russian President Vladimir Putin had signed constitutional laws on the accession of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) as well as of the Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions to Russia. "Today, our country has become larger de jure which is very important," the Kremlin official said.

On Wednesday, the Russian leader also appointed the heads of the four new regions. They will fulfill their duties until elections in accordance with Russian legislation. Denis Pushilin was appointed as acting head of the DPR, Leonid Pasechnik - as acting head of the LPR, Yevgeny Balitsky became acting governor of the Zaporozhye Region and Vladimir Saldo was designated as acting governor of the Kherson Region.
