Russian top security official blames US for trying to prolong Ukrainian conflict
Nikolay Patrushev noted that the US provided nationalists with intelligence and increased the supplies of weapons and military equipment that the Kiev regime was using against civilians
PETROZAVODSK, August 25. /TASS. The US and its allies are training nationalists, providing them with intelligence and increasing weapons supplies to Kiev in a bid to prolong the conflict in Ukraine, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev said on Thursday.
"The Anglo-Saxons, who dread losing their global dominance, have blatantly set out to completely contain and suppress Russia," Patrushev pointed out at a meeting dedicated to the Karelia Region’s economic security. According to him, Ukraine became a tool for carrying out these plans as it was turned into an "anti-Russia" entity, where a coup was staged, the spread of neo-Nazi ideas was facilitated and discord among Slavic peoples was sowed particularly through a ban on the Russian language and culture.
"In order to ensure Russia’s security and protect the Donbass people, we had to launch a special military operation," Patrushev noted. "The US and its allies are making every effort to prolong this conflict by training nationalists, providing them with intelligence and increasing the supplies of weapons and military equipment that the Kiev regime is using, particularly against civilians," he expounded.
In spite of all this, Russian troops and the defenders of Donbass are devoted to performing their tasks, Patrushev said. "I am sure that the special military operation’s goals, set forth by the Russian president, will be achieved," the Security Council secretary emphasized.
