Effect from foreign aid to ease social tension in Afghanistan is modest — Russian UN envoy

"We appreciate certain steps by international agencies and financial institutions, in particular the World Bank, to ease the humanitarian situation", Vasily Nebenzya said

United Nations, June 23. /TASS/. Foreign humanitarian aid to Afghanistan helps to reduce social tensions in the country, but just slightly, Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya told a meeting of the UN Security Council on Thursday.

"We appreciate certain steps by international agencies and financial institutions, in particular the World Bank, to ease the humanitarian situation," Nebenzya said. "Regretfully, these measures are still not enough to stably improve the lives of ordinary Afghans. Humanitarian aid from abroad has only a slight impact on the easing of social tensions," the UN ambassador added.
