TEHRAN, June 23. /TASS/. Iran has proposed dropping visa requirements for members of the Russian business community, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said on Thursday at a press conference following his meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.

"The two countries discussed cooperation on the issue of abolishing visas. Iran is ready to scrap visas between the two countries," he said, "As a first step, we discussed the abolition of visas for businessmen in order to increase trade cooperation."

The minister also added that "among the issues discussed was a long-term strategic agreement." "We hope that expert consultations will take place soon to finalize this document," the Iranian Foreign Minister said. He noted that "during the meeting, which went well, the sides reached an understanding on cooperation in trade and technology, as well as on projects in the railway sphere, including work on the Rasht-Astara railway.".
