Official says only triumph of Ukraine operation will quash West's Russophobic policy
Igor Barinov said that Russophobia was rooted deep in history and this issue is occasionally rears it’s ugly head
MOSCOW, June 20. /TASS/. Only the success of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine will be able to put an end to the West’s Russophobic policy. Never before has there been such a frenzy of Russophobia around the world as there is today, head of Russia's Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Igor Barinov said in an interview with TASS.
"Now, all our contacts have been cut off, and our media outlets have been shut down. We are blocked in all areas, beginning with politics, culture, and sports. And this is, in principle, unprecedented. There has never been such a wave of Russophobia historically," Barinov said.
When answering a question about the reasons for this phenomenon, he said that Russophobia was rooted deep in history and this issue is occasionally rears it’s ugly head. In his opinion, the root cause was the religious schism of the mid-11th century, which divided Christianity into Eastern and Western. At one time, the peak of Russophobia in Europe, according to Barinov, was Napoleon's Russian campaign, then the "palm" was picked up by the Anglo-Saxons, and later by Nazi Germany.
"And we see that we were able to put an end to it only through our military victories, so that for a while this topic would drop off the agenda of our fellow opponents in the West.
At the moment, I see that only a military triumph in the special military operation is the way to stop this Russophobic policy, unprecedented in its impudence, in the West. Only the strong are reckoned with, only the strong are respected. And then, after the victory in the special military operation, we can once again talk about some humanitarian, civilization and other issues," the agency’s head said.
