DONETSK, June 10. /TASS/. The Donetsk People’s Republic’s militia and the Russian army are pushing towards the city of Slavyansk, according to a post uploaded to the Telegram channel of the republic's territorial defense headquarters on Friday.

"As of June 10, the forces of the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics, with fire support from the Russian army, have liberated and established full control of 235 communities, including Tripolye, Vladimirovka, Stavki and Lipovoye. Their advance towards Slavyansk is continuing"

Slavyansk is a city in the north of the DPR. Since 2014 it has been under Kiev’s control. An important transport hub, industrial center, and mud therapy resort. Before the active phase of hostilities its population numbered about 107,000. In Slavyansk and neighboring Kramatorsk, the Ukrainian miliary have created a major fortified stronghold measuring over 170 square kilometers in area with large stocks of weapons, ammunition, fuel, lubricants and food. The militants placed heavy weapons in densely populated areas, and fire emplacements in apartment buildings and private homes.
