Lavrov assures Russian-Armenian relations cannot be subject to provocations
The minister pointed out that the relations between the two countries cover almost all spheres: economics, military and technical complex, humanitarian and educational fields, high technologies and some others
YEREVAN, June 9. /TASS/. All attempts to subject the strong and friendly relations between Russia and Armenia to tests and provocations are doomed to failure, the sides maintain close ties in various spheres, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Thursday at a meeting with Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan.
"Human bonds [between Russia and Armenia], unbreakable and centuries-old, are the best foundation between the states. There are many who wish to test this foundation, but every time <...> we see that these attempts are doomed to failure and that warm, sincere and truly friendly feelings between Armenians and Russians cannot be subject to any provocation," Lavrov said.
The minister pointed out that the relations between the two countries cover almost all spheres: economics, military and technical complex, humanitarian and educational fields, high technologies and some others. In addition to the bilateral agenda, the situation around the Karabakh settlement remains an important issue for both sides, Lavrov stressed.
"We know that it is of particular importance for the Armenian people as well. Because it is very important to unblock all the transport and economic relations for the development of your country, for the development of our trade and economic relations, as well as for human relations," Lavrov told the Armenian President, "This is all very useful for our common home, the South Caucasus. We will support it in every way we can".
